Enemies Of Good Art


On the 19th of October East London Fawcett Group hosted an evening of talks intended to generate considered campaigns that identify and address inequalities that women still face in all sectors of contemporary society. This, their first event considered alarming statistics in relation to women and the art world. Martina Mullaney from Enemies of Good Art is joined by Hannah Philip – co founder of the East London Fawcett Group, curator Gemma Rolls-Bentley and feminist activist Verity Flecknell.

Gemma Rolls-Bentley is an independent curator, she recently curated 400 Women, a conceptual installation by artist Tamsyn Challenger that responds to gender violence in Mexico, at Edinburgh Art Festival.

Verity Flecknell is founder of Storm in a Teacup collective, a feminist arts collective set up in 2009 to help promote female artists of all disciplines from the DIY / grassroots scene.

Hannah is a graduate in Politics from Glasgow University and the University of Oxford. Currently working in finance, she launched the East London Fawcett Group, with Labour Party activist, Rachel Blake, in May 2011.
